In order to use Winlink Express over the Sandhills Digipeater Network, you will need a TNC. If you already have a hardware TNC device then you do not need to go any further. However, if you do not have a hardware TNC but do have a Tigertronics SignaLink USB then continue on.
In order to use use a SignaLink, you need to run a packet emulation software called SoundModem by UZ7HO. Click here to download SoundModem. Once you download the ZIP archive, extract the soundmodem.exe file. There is no installation procedure for the program, simply double-clicking the file runs the program. Once you have extracted the file, it is time to configure it for Winlink Express.
Make sure the value for Ch A is 1700. Winlink will not connect to a station if the value has changed.
Select Devices under the Settings menu.
Make sure your SignaLink is selected for the output and input device and verify your settings match below. Click the OK button when finished.
Next, select Modems under the Settings menu.
Again, make sure your settings match below and click the OK button when finished.
